UPDATE: Tumblr excludes the ‘Gay & Lesbian’ category from Directory recommendations

Equalitopia recently posted about Tumblr excluding the ’Gay & Lesbian’ category from Directory recommendations. Since then, we've been in touch with Tumblr support, and they’ve stated:

“Because of the social implications of this directory, we believe it would be tremendously irresponsible for us to risk a user intentionally or accidently outing another user.”

This is a much better response than the response we received from Marco Arment (see Equalitopia’s original post). They also said that you can still apply to be added into this directory by emailing editors@tumblr.com with a description of your blog.

Since Equalitopia is also a news source, feel free to recommend Equalitopia to the News directory. ;)

Pansexual Pride should be part of the LGBTQ section of the tumblr directory.
