Transgender student attacked in campus restroom, “it” carved into chest

A transgender student was attacked in a campus bathroom on the California State University, Long Beach campus. The attacked reportedly carved the word “it” into his chest with a knife.

On April 15, 2010, a 27-year old transgendered CSULB student reported that he was attacked in a restroom on the college campus, according to the LA Times.

The suspect addressed the transgendered student by his name. He pulled his shirt over his head and pushed him into a stall. He then used a knife to slashed the victim’s chest.

LBPOST.com obtained a Facebook posting about the incident:

“A [transgendered] student left class [Thursday] night to go to the bathroom and on the way there was assaulted by someone who knew him by name but whom he didn’t know. He beat him and threw him against a wall then carved "It” on his chest with a knife.“

The attacker fled and the student was taken to a hospital.

Police were able to sketch the suspect based on the information given by the victim (pictured above). Earlier reports claim the police have not said whether the attack was a hate crime.

UPDATE: According to existing reports, police have not confirmed that the incident was a hate crime. These earlier reports do not reference the information about "it” being carved into the victim’s chest.

North Carolina school changes policy to allow gay couple to attend prom

A high school in Boonville, North Carolina has changed its policy to allow a gay couple to attend the school’s prom. The new policy does not specifically state that it allows same-sex couples. Instead, it allows students to bring a “guest.”

Chase Wall, a student at Starmount High School in North Carolina has been looking forward to attending the prom on May 1 with his boyfriend, Jordan Beam.

According to the report by FOX8, The principal told Wall that he could not bring his boyfriend to the prom. Beam’s mother confronted the school about the issue, and threatened to get the ACLU and the media involved.

The principal left this message on Beam’s mother’s home answering machine:

“We are going to allow Chase to bring, I guess it’s your son, as his outside date and what we are probably going to have to change about our policy is just to allow any student to bring a guest and not necessarily call it a date.”

Many people in the town disagreed with school’s decision.

According to the report, school administrators refused to talk to FOX8 on camera, but they did say that they had a no-discrimination policy.

Texas Town Furious Over Play About Gay Jesus

Residents of Stephenville, Texas are upset over Tarleton State University hosting a student production of “Corpus Christi,” which depicts a gay Jesus performing a same-sex wedding for two of his apostles.

Residents of Stephenville are outraged, according to Fox News. People are pressuring the university to stop the performance, which is set to Saturday at 8am. AOL News reports that the university is limiting attendance to students and family members for safety concerns. The play was also moved to 8am.

The 1998 play was written by Terrence McNally and depicts Jesus and the Apostles living in the modern day as gay men. In the play, Jesus kisses Judas at the Pontius Pilate High School’s senior prom and adminsters the gay marriage of two apostles.

According to the Fox News report:

“It infuriates me that somebody would be given a platform to be able to demean and degrade the Son of God,” said David Harris, pastor of the town’s Hillcrest Church of Christ. “I’m angry about it and every Christian should be.”

Though the play has won multiple awards, it has been subject to criticism by Christian groups. The playwrite has even received death threats, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
