Google Launches #ProudToLove Campaign Promoting LGBT Equality

Google launched a campaign promoting LGBT equality this week (June 24th-30th), called #ProudToLove. The campaign encourages Google+ users to participate by using the #ProudToLove hashtag to tell stories and share photos and videos about who they’re proud to love.

The campaign has gained support from GLAAD, The Trevor Project, Logo, The NOH8 Campaign, GaymerX, and many other organizations and individuals.

“This will be a great way to celebrate the excitement of Pride and the momentous Supreme Court Decisions. The common denominator for all of these activities is love- something we should all be proud of. Let’s get this hashtag trending!”

Google is known in the LGBT community for their supporting for equality. A few years ago, Google created their own It Gets Better video. In 2010, Google announced they would offer extra pay to gay Google employees (or “Gayglers”) to offset their tax inequality.

We created a new #ProudToLove section of the LGBT Community on Google+, so please feel free to post your photos and videos there and share your stories with the rest of the Community!
