Graffiti In Mississippi: “No 2 Gay Marrage”

A series of graffiti incidents has occurred in Jackson, Mississippi, one of which reads, “NO 2 GAY MARRAGE (sic) KILL THEM.”

The graffiti appears on the side of a vacant building on West Capitol Street according to My Fox AL. The Human Rights Campaign has condemned the graffiti in a blog post, saying that “this hateful message does not represent Mississippi values.”

The Human Rights Campaign also called for Mississippians to “stand up and make it clearly known that these kinds of messages of hatred have no place in our society.”

Today Is The Transgender Day of Remembrance

Take a moment to honor and celebrate those lives that were lost due to anti-transgender hate. Above is a list of the individuals who lost their lives this year. This is just a fraction of the trans people who were murdered this year — many more were documented but were unidentified in the media.

Korean University: No Jobs for Homosexuals

Korea Nazarene University, a Christian university in Cheonan, South Korea, is telling its job applicants that “drinking, smoking, and homosexuality are not allowed.”

The listing was published on Tuesday and spotted by The Korea Observer, who contacted the university:

Ahn Kwang-jin, a senior official at Korea Nazarene University, told The Korea Observer that his university has a strict policy against drinking, smoking and homosexuality.

“We are letting you know that even if you make an application, you wouldn’t get the job unless you meet the stated requirements,” he said.“

Further, the full job application includes a "self health check list” that requires applicants to disclose if they are HIV positive or have had a “transsexual operation.”

Listen: Parents Disown and Assault Child After He Comes Out As Gay

(Warning: disturbing audio and language used.)

Disturbing video footage of a gay man coming out to his parents was just posted to Reddit with the title “How Not to React when Your Son Tells You that He’s Gay.”

In the video, the parents explain that they will “no longer support him” and ask him to leave. As the video continues, the argument becomes more tense and the parents allegedly hit him and then continue to yell slurs at him.

Reddit user rythymknight posted the video to Reddit saying that the individual in the video is his boyfriend. He also provided some more information about his current status:

“He does have somewhere to stay for now until he gets on his feet. Unfortunately, his car was taken back as well. It seems terrible right now, but I feel confident that he will make it through this and be OK.”

Google Takes Aim At Russia With Rainbow Olympics Doodle

Google.com is featuring a rainbow-colored Olympics “Doodle” to take aim at Russia’s anti “gay propaganda” policies, just a day before the Sochi Olympics opening ceremonies.

The Doodle is also appearing on Google.ru. Below the search box is a quote from the Olympic Charter:

“The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.” –Olympic Charter

Clicking the logo brings you to the Google search results for “Olympic Charter,” the rules and guidelines that govern the Olympics.

Eight States Have Laws Banning Promotion of LGBTQ Topics, Similar to Russia’s Ban on Gay Propaganda

GLSEN published three interactive maps showing discrimination laws in the United States, which the Washington Post compares to Russia’s anti homosexual propaganda policies in some regard.

Eight states limit speech about homosexuality in ways similar to, though not as far-reaching as, the Russian ban that has received international criticism ahead of the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The Trevor Project explains that these laws “ban educators from talking about LGBTQ people, issues or history” and points out that they may prevent LGBTQ people from being in a safe environment.

AllOut Launches Campaign Against Anti-Gay Propaganda in Russia

LGBT rights group AllOut launched a beautiful new video to raise awareness about the anti-gay laws in Russia.

What if living your dream meant living a lie?

Russia is in the midst of a violent crackdown against lesbian, gay, bi and trans people - fueled by laws that make it a crime to be open about who you are and who you love.

The countdown is on for Russia’s winter Olympics and, very soon, all eyes will be on them.

The Olympic games are our best chance to end to Russia’s outrageous anti-gay laws – but to do it, it’s going to take lots more of us to hear about what’s happening in Russia.

Watch this beautiful 2-minute video, and please share it with your family and friends. You can also sign the petition here: www.allout.org/en/actions/russia-attacks
