The anti-homophobia in football commercial the FA decided not to show

This is the TV and cinema commercial targeting homophobia that The England Football Association decided not to show. The FA was set to release the ad earlier this week but they decided not to air it in a last minute reversal. They said that they were delaying the release of the film to give themselves extra time to draw up a more-detailed strategy for its anti-homophobia campaign. A spokesman said the game’s governing body was still “committed to its stated aims of tackling homophobia in football.”

The ad, created by Ogilvy, shows a man taunting, a newspaper seller, a fellow commuter on the tube and work colleagues with anti-gay language, accompanied by the caption, ‘This behavior is unacceptable here.’

Ogilvy released the video onto youtube, but quickly decided to make it private so the public could not view it. Equalitopia has managed to track down a copy of this ad.

Contains language and gestures that some viewers may find distressing or offensive.
