February is
LGBT HISTORY MONTH (UK)
Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans History Month takes place every year in February. It celebrates the lives and achievements of the LGBT community. We are committed to celebrate its diversity and that of the society as a whole. We encourage everyone to see diversity and cultural pluralism as the positive forces that they are and endeavour to reflect this in all we do. You can also read testimonials of community groups and organisations supportive of LGBT History Month.
LGBT History Month first took place in February 2005 (The United States’ History Month is in October). The event came in the wake of the abolition of Section 28 and is intended to raise awareness of, and combat prejudice against, an otherwise substantially invisible minority.
