Gay gamer convention GaymerCon to be picketed by the Westboro Baptist Church
GaymerCon, which is described as “the first gaming and tech convention with a focus on LGBT geek culture,” has become the homophobic Westboro Baptist Church's latest picketing target.
The Westboro Baptist Church published a video condemning the convention after Gaymercon gather press coverage for their successful Kickstarter campaign:
"We need yet another area of life where fag filth is intentionally called out and crammed down our throats?"
"What we’ve all been longing for: a fag-focused gaming convention! #MustPicket" tweeted Rebekah Phelps-Roper, one of church’s members.
GaymerCon is scheduled for the late summer of 2013 and will be held in San Francisco.
Last week, GaymerCon raised $12,223 USD from their Kickstarter project within just 24 hours. The Kickstarter project reached it’s goal of $25,000 in less than 4 days. The project’s funding period still has 20 days left and is currently at $45,142 with 861 individual backers.
